Judy and I arrived in New Mexico by car from California a little over a week ago. Almost from the moment we crossed the border from Arizona into New Mexico we were treated to a sky show consisting of beautiful clouds of all shapes, sizes, and shades of ... continue reading...

Bridges Upon The Tweed

Gazing out of the train window on our recent journey from York to Edinburgh we were awestruck by the magnificence of the railway bridge we were about to cross as we entered the town of Berwick-upon-Tweed from the south. The size of the bridge alone was unlike ... continue reading...

Colorful Guanajuato, Mexico

A Photo Essay Well we’ve finished part 1 of Judy and Michael’s Great Medical Adventure in Costa Rica and have happily moved onto Guanajuato, Mexico; beautiful, lively, friendly, colorful, and great food! We arrived the night of June 1, and we’re staying in area Barrio de la Griteria which is a 10 to 25 minute walk to most everything, well that would be heading down - coming up is a bit longer, but with locals running up and down the slopped stairs it inspires us to keep plodding ... continue reading...

It’s Raining in Costa Rica

We arrived in Costa Rica on Monday in a rainstorm, it is now Sunday, and it is still raining. Granted, it has not been raining non-stop, but it has rained every day so far. And when I say "it has rained" I mean it has really rained – buckets and buckets of the wet stuff!! And there has been a lot of thunder and lightning as well during these downpours. It is the rainy season here in Costa Rica, so this weather was not totally unexpected. But the amounts of rain that come down during these ... continue reading...

A Healing Trip to Dr. Mike’s in Grand Rapids

(Updated for 2017) Let me start off by saying that if you suffer from Meniere’s Disease, a disorder of the inner ear that can cause vertigo, ringing in the ears, hearing loss, and other problems, you owe it to yourself and those you love to pay a visit to Burcon Chiropractic in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I have bilateral Meniere's, and I have lost most of the hearing in my right ear. While I have also lost much of the hearing in my left ear, I firmly believe that if I had not been coming to Burcon ... continue reading...

The Joys of Cork

Ahhhhhh, Cork. Arriving in Cork which is located on the southeast coast of Ireland and walking its streets felt like returning to someplace both familiar and newly inspiring – kind of like bumping into a great friend that you hadn’t seen in many years. And after our somewhat of a disconnect with Dublin, Cork felt like we had arrived someplace that was welcoming, exciting, and fresh. The streets kind of take you in and reveal things to you slowly as you meander between the two forks of the River ... continue reading...

A Tale of Two Parades

From the Heads of Crazy People to the Tail of the Dragon In our travels to various destinations we don't normally think of a parade as something to seek out, but after these two experiences occurring in very different parts of the world we may re-think this. A parade can give you an insight into the culture of the region that you might not see with any other type of event or cultural site visited. It is a way to connect in a different way with the grass roots of the people, a part of the soul ... continue reading...
